Oak Island Loggerheads Name John Saviano Head Coach

OAK ISLAND, N.C. – The Oak Island Loggerheads are excited to announce the hiring of John Saviano as the team's new head coach for the upcoming season.

Saviano brings extensive experience as a player, coach, and player development specialist to Oak Island. He played collegiately at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) from 2014 to 2018 before continuing his career professionally in Minor League and independent baseball from 2018 to 2021.

While still playing, Saviano began his coaching career at St. Thomas Aquinas College, where he coached from 2019 to 2021. He then joined the coaching staff at SUNY Albany for the 2021–2022 season. From 2022 to 2025, Saviano served as Head of Player Development at Power Arm Performance, where he worked with athletes on improving their skills and reaching their potential.

"I plan on coaching this team with mutual respect and a different style of coaching that will give these athletes a new perspective on the game," Saviano said. "If you want to compete and get better this summer, you want to play for me and the Loggerheads."

The Loggerheads look forward to welcoming Saviano to the Oak Island community as the team prepares for an exciting season ahead.
